Switching Your Cat's Food
January 6, 2026 |
As you know, cats can be picky about their food. Some might like pates only while others will eat anything. Over time, a cat might be tired of the food they are eating and will want a change. Wouldn’t you if you only had a few food options that you ate, day after day?
If you think your cat would benefit from a food change, do so gradually. Do not immediately change the food, or your cat will get sick.
The safest way to gradually switch over 7 to 10 days:
- 75% old / 25% new
- 50% old / 50% new
- 25% old / 75% new
- Then 100% new food
Keep water available and watch for vomiting or diarrhea. If either persists for more than a few days, contact a veterinarian.
