Petting Your Cat
September 6, 2024
Posted on September 6, 2024
Do you pet your cat and he/she sinks their teeth into your hand? Then you may be petting your cat wrong.
Each cat has his/her own preferences for being petted.
Some may only like to be petted on the head, or under the chin. While others might not care where you pet them. The important thing is to observe your cat’s body language while petting as they can get overstimulated.
Always observe the tail. That is usually the first sign a petting session may take a turn for the worst. If kitty’s tail is thrashing, stop petting. If you have a new cat, then you will need to get to know their personality before petting them. Some cats might not like to get petted so it’s important to not force your cat into being petted. You might want to stick to the head until you get to know your new cat’s likes and dislikes.
