Pawsome

January 30, 2025

A few years ago, I had a cat that started hanging around my house. Over the course of a few weeks, he would come and go. I did my due diligence to see if anyone was missing this cat. I was unsuccessful in my pursuit to find his owner(s).

One day, I noticed the cat was limping, but I couldn’t get close enough to him to see what the problem was. The weather was starting to grow colder, and I was concerned. The limping continued for a few days. I was able to trap him and take him to a veterinarian.

Once inside the vet’s office the vet was able to exam his paw. She couldn’t find anything wrong with it. She picked up the cat and set him on the floor to see the exact paw he was limping on. Well low-and-below he no longer had the limp! Praise Jesus, it was a miracle! Did I feel entirely set up by this cat? Absolutely! He most likely could sense I was a sap and would take him in. However, he decided to act and devise a plan to get my attention. From that day forward, his limp has not come back, and he has taken up residence in my household.

Should you encounter a cat with a paw injury, here are some symptoms to be aware of.

  • Limping
  • Holding up a foot
  • Licking the foot
  • The pay is sensitive to touch

If you can check the cat, look for:

  • Damaged nails
  • Swollen toes or punctured wounded paw pads
  • Discharge from the paw

If the injury doesn’t improve within a few days, a vet visit is needed.
